Medic to Medic
Medic to Medic are a small NZ registered charity and part of a UK charity supporting disadvantaged students in Africa to complete their training as health workers. They focus their work in Malawi, one of the poorest countries in the world. Their scholarships cover tuition fees, allowances and one-off items including medical equipment, books, and laptop, ensuring everyone has everything they need to successfully qualify to serve the impoverished health services in their country.
Their aim is to add to the absolute numbers of health workers in training in countries where there are critical shortages by targeting support to those most vulnerable of dropping out of their courses due to their backgrounds. Graduates from these backgrounds are more likely to work in impoverished rural communities where healthcare needs are greatest, yet these students are also at greatest risk of dropping out of their training due to poverty. As of February 2023, there are over 170 graduates and 85 trainee health workers across a range of health disciplines in Malawi.
The current Medic to Medic campaigns asks doctors to locum for a day and donate this pay to help train a doctor for life!
For any of our doctors that do this we will add our agency fee to the donation.Find out more about Medic to Medic by clicking the Find out more button below.
